In this session, Caitlin will share her genre writing and editing journey—as a child listening to and reading stories, as a young adult writing her first fantasy novels, as a professional, published novelist of literary fantasy, and finally, as an instructor and mentor. Caitlin will provide invaluable insights into the challenges and triumphs of writing and editing genre fiction, offering guidance for aspiring writers and editors.

About the Speaker

Caitlin Sweet is the author of five adult fantasy novels published between 2003 and 2015. She has been a creative writing instructor at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies for 18 years. Caitlin currently works in communications at Ontario’s Ministry of the Attorney General. She lives in Toronto with her science fiction-writing husband, four cats, two rabbits, two fish, and, from time to time, two grown-up daughters.
